Downloads – gratis software van Pim Uijttewaal

Op deze pagina staat alle gratis software die ik zelf bouw, allemaal zonder reclame, zonder account en zonder verborgen kosten. Er zijn twee apps: Vossenpost, een mail-notifier die vanuit je menubalk je inbox in de gaten houdt, en The Jumping Fox, een screensaver met een springend vosje, klok en datum. Hieronder lees je wat ze doen, wat je nodig hebt en hoe je ze installeert.

Mijn volgende app: urenregistratie voor zzp’ers. Declaruur houdt per opdrachtgever je gewerkte uren, kosten en kilometers bij en maakt er in een paar tikken een nette urenstaat van, als PDF of direct per mail. Ook je notities, bonnetjes en het urencriterium staan op één plek.

Wat is het? Vossenpost is een visueel bijzonder aantrekkelijke mail-notifier voor je Mac. Het vosje zit in je menubalk, kijkt mee in je mailbox en keft zodra er nieuwe mail binnenkomt.

Animaties, visualisaties en speciale effecten. Een envelopje vult zich met goud naarmate er meer ongelezen mail is, gelezen berichten lichten op met een zegel, verwijderde berichten waaien weg, en bij belangrijke mail springt er een vosje over je scherm. Het vosje snuffelt tijdens het controleren, er zijn gouden sterretjes en een Postzak vol grapjes. Alle effecten en animaties zet je los aan of uit.

Past bij je Mac. Het uiterlijk volgt het uiterlijk van je systeem: het thema Klassiek goud schakelt mee tussen licht en donker, en wie liever iets anders heeft kiest Avond (donkerbruin met goud) of Retro terminal (groen op zwart). Verder kun je veel zelf instellen: geluiden, een eigen kleur per account, de grootte van het paneel en een sfeerachtergrond. De app maakt volop gebruik van wat de nieuwste macOS 27 biedt, met een widget op je bureaublad, meldingen met snelle acties, Opdrachten (Shortcuts) en een Focus-stand die het vosje stil houdt wanneer jij dat wilt.

Een kijkje in je mailbox, zoals je het niet snel elders ziet. Met de Postzak zie je in één oogopslag hoeveel mail je krijgt, op welke dagen en uren het druk is, wie je het vaakst mailt, hoeveel je las, verwijderde of verplaatste en hoeveel spam het vosje wegving. Alle cijfers blijven op je Mac en worden nergens naartoe gestuurd.

Werkt met je eigen mailaccount. Vossenpost ondersteunt iCloud, Gmail (via een app-wachtwoord, stap voor stap uitgelegd), KPN, Ziggo, XS4ALL, Proton (via Proton Bridge) en vrijwel elke andere IMAP-mailbox. De app is volledig in het Nederlands en het Engels.

Persoonlijk contact met de ontwikkelaar. Via de feedbackknop in de app (Instellingen → Over → Feedback) praat je rechtstreeks met de maker. Ja, ik reageer echt: er zit geen chatbot achter, alleen een man met te veel koffie en een vosje op zijn scherm.

Wat heb je nodig? macOS 14.6 of nieuwer, op een Mac met Apple-chip of Intel. De Windows-versie komt binnenkort.

The Jumping Fox

Screensaver voor Mac en Windows

Wat zie je? Zodra je Mac of pc een tijdje stilstaat, springt het Uijttewaal-vosje over het scherm, met de tijd en datum erbij. Het is een kleine, lichte schermbeveiliging zonder gedoe en zonder reclame.

Installeren op de Mac: download het pakket, dubbelklik erop en volg de stappen van de installer. Daarna kies je The Jumping Fox in Systeeminstellingen onder Schermbeveiliging. Versie 1.1 is ondertekend met een Apple Developer ID en door Apple genotariseerd, dus macOS laat het zonder waarschuwing toe.

Installeren op Windows: pak het ZIP-bestand uit en start het Setup-bestand. Windows toont bij uitgever misschien "onbekend". Dat komt doordat dit een gratis hobbyproject is zonder betaald certificaat. Download je het van uijttewaal.info, dan kun je gewoon doorgaan. Vergelijk desgewenst de SHA-256-code op de pagina met die van je bestand.

Is alles echt gratis?

Ja. Geen betaalde versie, geen abonnement, geen reclame, geen account nodig.

Is het veilig om te installeren?

Ja. De Mac-versies zijn ondertekend met een Apple Developer ID en door Apple gecontroleerd op schadelijke software. Bij elke download staat bovendien een SHA-256-code zodat je zelf kunt nagaan dat het bestand klopt.

Wat is het verschil tussen Vossenpost en Foxifier?

Dat is dezelfde app. Foxifier is de Engelse naam en Vossenpost de Nederlandse.

Komt er een Windows-versie van Vossenpost?

Ja, die komt binnenkort. Houd deze pagina in de gaten of kijk op de Vossenpost-pagina.

What is it? Foxifier (called Vossenpost in Dutch) is a visually striking mail notifier for your Mac. The fox lives in your menu bar, keeps an eye on your mailbox and barks the moment new mail arrives.

Animations, visualisations and special effects. An envelope fills with gold as more unread mail piles up, read messages light up with a seal, deleted messages blow away, and for important mail a fox jumps across your screen. The fox sniffs around while it checks, there are golden sparkles and a Mailbag full of jokes. You can switch every effect and animation on or off.

Fits your Mac. The look follows your system appearance: the Classic gold theme switches between light and dark along with macOS, and if you prefer something else you can choose Evening (dark brown with gold) or Retro terminal (green on black). You can customise a lot more: sounds, a colour per account, the size of the panel and an atmospheric background. The app makes full use of what the latest macOS 27 offers, with a desktop widget, notifications with quick actions, Shortcuts and a Focus mode that keeps the fox quiet when you want it to.

A look inside your mailbox, like you won't easily find elsewhere. The Mailbag shows at a glance how much mail you get, on which days and hours it's busiest, who you hear from most, how much you read, deleted or moved, and how much spam the fox caught. All numbers stay on your Mac and are never sent anywhere.

Works with your own mail account. Foxifier supports iCloud, Gmail (via an app password, explained step by step), KPN, Ziggo, XS4ALL, Proton (via Proton Bridge) and almost any other IMAP mailbox. The app is fully available in Dutch and English.

Personal contact with the developer. Through the feedback button in the app (Settings → About → Feedback) you talk directly to the maker. Yes, I really do reply: there's no chatbot behind it, just a man with too much coffee and a fox on his screen.

What do you need? macOS 14.6 or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon or Intel. The Windows version is coming soon.

The Jumping Fox

Screensaver for Mac and Windows

What do you see? As soon as your Mac or PC has been idle for a while, the Uijttewaal fox jumps across the screen, with the time and date alongside. It is a small, lightweight screensaver with no fuss and no ads.

Installing on the Mac: download the package, double-click it and follow the installer. Then choose The Jumping Fox under Screen Saver in System Settings. Version 1.1 is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so macOS lets it through without a warning.

Installing on Windows: unzip the ZIP file and run the Setup file. Windows may show the publisher as "unknown". That is because this is a free hobby project without a paid code-signing certificate. If you downloaded it from uijttewaal.info you can simply continue. If you like, compare the SHA-256 code on the page with the one for your file.

Is everything really free?

Yes. No paid version, no subscription, no ads, no account needed.

Is it safe to install?

Yes. The Mac versions are signed with an Apple Developer ID and checked by Apple for malicious software. Each download also has a SHA-256 code so you can verify the file yourself.

What is the difference between Vossenpost and Foxifier?

They are the same app. Foxifier is the English name and Vossenpost the Dutch one.

Is there a Windows version of Foxifier?

Yes, it is coming soon. Keep an eye on this page or check the Foxifier page.
